Fast, Reliable Internet Is in Your Future
Concho Valley Electric Cooperative recognizes that many of our members live in some of the most underserved areas in Texas for high-speed internet. After lengthy board discussions, the cooperative surveyed the membership to assess interest in CVEC providing high-speed internet.
Upon learning that 80% of members were in favor of internet services, the board of directors initiated a pilot project in the Buffalo Heights subdivision, northwest of San Angelo. The project is well underway with nearly 300 members connected. Following the success of the pilot, the co-op has decided to expand the effort with the goal of eventually serving the entire membership.
This will be a multiyear project as the technology CVEC is building is a true fiber-to-the-home network—a long-term investment for our membership. Fiber-optic internet is up to 20 times faster than cable and other options currently available in the area. Since CVEC is not in partnership with any other service providers, the network will be a member-owned asset operated by local employees committed to providing long-term, reliable internet service and great customer service without pricing gimmicks.
Since CVEC is building the network infrastructure from the ground up, it’s key for members to preregister their interest at cvec.coop/fiber. For efficiency of construction, the service territory has been divided into zones, and preregistration will help CVEC identify areas with the highest interest. Preregistration will drive the construction process, as the areas with the most interest will be prioritized in the deployment of the fiber network.
Concho Valley EC will offer three plans, with tiers ranging from 100 megabits per second up to 1 gigabit per second. For more information on pricing and plans that will be available, click here.
