Fiber Construction FAQs

What is the construction plan for CVEC's fiber network?

Construction of CVEC's fiber network began in late 2021. The goal is to bring fiber to every CVEC member, with construction in phases over the next several years.

How will I know when you will be working in my area?

Construction to specific areas will be prioritized by the number of members that preregister. CVEC will also send out postcards when construction comes to your neighborhood.

Where will the wires be? Overhead or underground?

Generally, the wires for fiber-optic internet service will follow the path of your current electric service.

Underground: If they currently run underground, the fiber wires will run underground, as well. If you have private underground lines, we will need your help to locate these lines. Examples of these underground lines are for systems such as irrigation sprinklers, landscape lighting, pool equipment, or other private undergound systems. Please collect any information you have for these private underground line locations and provide them to the technician during the site survey.

Overhead: If the wires for your current electric service are overhead, the service installer will generally follow that same path.

Will CVEC need to trench my property to install the fiber?

In some cases, yes, if your power service is underground, the new fiber connection will be underground as well. We will make every attempt to ensure that these disturbances are minimal and as non-intrusive as possible.

Will you need to drill a hole in my house for the cable?

Yes, we will need to run the cable to the inside of the property to connect to the in-home equipment.

Who can I talk to about CVEC fiber network construction?

Contact CVEC at 325-655-6957 or at cvec@cvec.coop with any questions you might have about internet service.
