Local Students Win Trip to Washington, D.C. in Concho Valley EC Youth Tour Contest
Miles High School students, Jayden Hinds and Hunter Billmeier, and Robert Lee High School student, Rhett Rangel will be representing Concho Valley Electric Cooperative and Texas on the 2024 Government-in-Action Youth Tour from June 16 to 23. They will meet up in Austin, alongside 150 Texas participants, and head to Washington, D.C. where they will join students from across the country. During the trip they will meet with their representatives in Congress, travel to historic monuments and landmarks, and visit museums where artifacts to our nation’s formation are preserved.
Concho Valley EC practices the seven guiding principles of cooperatives, one of which is education. Concho Valley EC is happy to provide the opportunity of education and training for their membership, particularly through youth programs such as the Government-in-Action Youth Tour. Youth Tour represents one of our most important investments in the future of the communities we serve. Participating students gain deeper perspective on the history and mechanisms of our democracy. Attendees often return with a renewed commitment to their hometowns, and many have gone on to become teachers, doctors, lawyers, politicians and even co-op employees in their communities.
